Melissa Gaeke joins Marist as the Director of the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership. She recently moved here from Los Angeles, CA, where she spent 15 years working at the University
of Southern California creating and supporting civic engagement programs for students, faculty and community partners. Her interests include civic engagement program development, models of civic education, citizenship, deliberative democracy, and public ethics.
Emily Satin ’20
CCEL Office Assistant
Emily is a junior psychology major from Albany, NY. Her involvement in her own community based learning classes sparked her interest in civic engagement. At the CCEL, she works on generating content for social media as well as providing new ideas for student resources. In addition, she can help to assist professors within the Liberal Arts College or office in whatever they may need.
Elena Reyes ’21
Social Media Specialist
Elena is a sophomore Communication major with a concentration in Communication Studies and Music minor from New York City. At CCEL, she works with the team to promote events and engage students on campus through social media and advertisements.
Meghan Lai ’19
Meghan is a senior communication major with a concentration in advertising and minor in graphic design from Honolulu, HI. At CCEL, she focuses on creating content to post on CCEL social media, as well as developing strategies to help promote CCEL and CBL programs.
William Shaughnessy ’22
William is a freshman political science major from Clark, New Jersey. At CCEL, he focuses on analyzing and organizing data collected from community based learning programs offered on campus. He also is responsible for creating GoogleForms surveys in order to get pre and post assessments from CBL students.
