Annual Tarver luncheon occurred on September 28, 2016 in the Marist College Cabaret from 12pm until 1:30pm, in honor of Marie and her late husband Rupert Tarver. The event began with a meet and greet, buffet lunch, presentations from the Tarver Interns concluding with closing remarks from the Dean of Liberal Arts, Martin Shaffer.
The Tarver’s dedicated their lives to improving the lives of many people within the Hudson Valley region. Throughout their careers the Tarvers worked hand in hand to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations and to serve the needs of countless children and their families. The interns participated in a summer long paid internship, while being partnered with non- profit organizations located within the Hudson Valley region. The interns had an opportunity to gain real- life experience and knowledge in their preferred field of interest.
The non- profits involved were United Way of Dutchess Orange Region, Marist Liberty Partnerships Program, Services of the Hudson Valley, Poughkeepsie Office, Literacy Connections and Family Services, Inc.
